On Friday the 7th of June was Metaltown in Gothenburg. A whole day with nothing but metal music! And the burning sun, I burned my nose. hehe.
First band out was ENTOMBED I have not heard so much of them but they were great live. There where some problems with the sound, you could not hear what the singer sung. So he threw the mic on the stage, trashed a part of the drumset and started to drink beer. Totaly insane haha.
Next was HAUNTED Didn’t see much of them. Just the beginning and the end. We went to the demostage instead.
SOILWORK was good. Just heard a few songs by them. It was fun to see even if I don’t listen to them.
EVERGREY is another group i dont really care about. Not much to see but I guess they were ok. They are a bit too soft for me :p
CRADLE OF FILTH was one of the reasons I went to metaltown. I really love their music but they are not a good live band. They fit better in the studio. Danni Filth’s voice don’t hold for live singing. I was really disappointed. Stood at the front next to hysterical girls. Shit.. it was like looking on a boyband. But a suicide boyband, with fans who has scars all over their arms. But it was really cool to see them live even though the sound sucked!
DANKO JONES was good too. The singer spoke a lot to the audience. Maybe a bit to much. I don’t listen to them either but the music was ok.
When OPETH was on I was to tired to stand. So we just sat down and listen. It was enough to see them come out on the stage. I like Opeth, they did a good gig.
MOTORHEAD was the band I didn’t give a shit about. Never listened to them. Stand in front of the other stage and waited at TOOL. Saw some of them, but not much. All the songs sound the same.And it feelt like they would never stop playing. Get of the stage! I wanna see TOOL! :D
The last band, and the greatest!! Was TOOL. To everyone who likes TOOL and missed them…Well you really missed something. They were sooooooooo good! If I had missed them, which I thought I would, I would have shoot my head of hehe. Maybards voice is the best, never heard anyone that sings like him. And their songs, so good. Can’t really find the words to describe how good it was. I just didn’t want it to end! Everything was good. The sound was great..a little too much base maybe. I stood infront of the speakers, it was even hard to have my eyes open cause of the vibrations. And the big speakers started to move out. The security had to push it back in all the time. COOOOL: Never been anywhere where the speakers started to move :D. Maynard didn’t speak much but the few things he said was enough. They express themselves through the music, no need for more. But as he said “we are just a bunch of drunk guys”. Or something like that, can’t remember so good :D
It was really a grrrrrrrreat day. 12 hours of metal music. YEEEEAH!!!
Picture is from Rock am ring. But this was one of the best concerts I have ever been on. It was so fucking great. But the angle is the same. Stod in front like this. I really hope they are coming back soon!
